Six of the objects chosen for the BBC's landmark series relate to York, they are:
- Head of Constantine the Great - Yorkshire Museum, York
- York Helmet - Yorkshire Museum, York
- Viking Gold Arm Ring - Yorkshire Museum, York
- St William's Shrine - Yorkshire Museum, York
- Middleham Jewel - Yorkshire Museum, York
- Shackleton's Tin of Rowntree's Cocoa - York Castle Museum
- and one other is in the 100 objects to be featured in the BBC radio broadcasts:
- Vale of York Viking Hoard - jointly owned by the British Museum and the Yorkshire Museum
The Yorkshire Museum is currently closed for a major refit, due to reopen 1 August 2010. From 12 February the York Helmet and the Middleham Jewel will be on display in the British Museum , along with around 30 other Yorkshire Museum objects, in the display 'Treasures from Medieval York'.
